
Brigadier General Matthew E. Henry
New Mexico Assistant to the Adjutant General - Air, Joint Forces Headquarters, New Mexico Air National Guard
As a senior military advisor to the Governor and Adjutant General, he advises on all matters pertaining to the New Mexico Air National Guard. He is responsible for planning and executing the mission and organizing, training, and deploying New Mexico Air National Guard units during contingency and domestic operations in federal and state emergencies.
General Henry earned his commission in December 1997 through Air Force ROTC at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He began his career as an intelligence officer with the 353rd Special Operations Group at Kadena Air Force Base. He joined the Georgia Air National Guard in 2002 as a JSTARS Airborne Intelligence Officer before joining the New Mexico Air National Guard in 2008. He is a master intelligence officer with several operational deployments supporting Operations IRAQI and DENURING FREEDOM.
Prior to his current assignment, General Henry served in a variety of roles to include flight commander, airborne instructor and evaluator, wing senior intelligence officer, the 250th Intelligence Squadron commander, the 150th Mission Support Group commander, the 150th Vice Wing commander, and as the director of staff and chief of staff for the Air, Joint Forces Headquarters, New Mexico Air National Guard.
