State Command Sergeant Major
CSM Poccia joined the United States Marine Corps in 1996. During his 8 years in the Marine Corps, he served with both the 1st & 4th Reconnaissance Battalions, deploying as a Reconnaissance Marine to Southeast Asia, Central America, and Iraq, where he participated in the invasion of Iraq as a Recon Team Leader in 2003.
CSM Poccia ascended into the New Mexico National Guard in 2005 as an E5 and has served within the 1-200 Infantry Battalion. His positions included Alpha Company Infantry Team Leader, Bravo Company Infantry Squad Leader (Deployed), Delta Company Heavy Weapons Infantry Platoon Sergeant, Charlie Company Infantry First Sergeant, Bravo Company Infantry First Sergeant (Deployed Twice), Headquarters Company Battalion Operations Sergeant Major, and Headquarters 1-200 Battalion Command Sergeant Major.
CSM Poccia is currently serving as the New Mexico Army National Guard State Command Sergeant Major. In his civilian career, he has served the citizens of Albuquerque as a Police Officer for 16 years. He has been married to his wife, Allison, for 23 years. They have three children: Alec, Bella, and Jack.
